Payments for pre-owned watch dealers

Sell a pre-owned watch to a buyer abroad, paid before it ships.

Most pre-owned sales start in a message thread, with photos of the watch, the box and the papers. Send one link for the agreed price, and stablecoins settle to a wallet you control before you post it.

Before you read on: we publish every business type we take and every one we refuse — 28 we take, 11 we refuse.

What we don't take

  • Replica or “inspired by” watches

Zoyn doesn't check a watch, its papers or its serial number. That is your work as the dealer, and the buyer relies on you for it.

Why this is harder than it looks

A sale in a message thread, a buyer in another country, and disputes about papers.

The sale happens in a message thread

Photos, questions about the service history, an agreed price, and then the question of how the buyer pays.

Send one link for the agreed price in the same thread. Every link is a single payment of a fixed amount, and you post the watch once it is paid.

The buyer is in another country

Pre-owned watches sell across borders, and a large bank transfer from abroad can be slow and costly.

The buyer pays from their own wallet, wherever they live. Card may be available for some buyers — buyer eligibility depends on country, payment method, provider, and compliance checks. A large card payment can be declined.

Disputes are about papers, not taste

When a sale goes wrong it is usually over the box and papers, the service history or a part that isn't original.

Describe the watch fully in your listing and your terms of sale. Those terms decide what is owed. A wallet payment is not reversed by Zoyn after the required network confirmations; a card-funded payment can still be disputed under the provider's own rules. Zoyn has no refund button.

Watch sales settle to a wallet only you control.

Two limits worth knowing. If your own account with us is under review, automatic payouts pause until that is resolved. And a buyer paying by card can be declined, or asked to prove who they are, before the money is sent — a payment that doesn't happen, never money taken back from you afterwards.

How it works

One watch, one link.

1

Agree the price in your message thread

With the photos and the details of the box and papers.

2

Send one link for the agreed price

With your stock number as the description.

3

The payment reaches your wallet

After the required network confirmations. Then you post the watch.

If you sell jewellery or watches at higher prices, money-laundering and sanctions rules where you trade, including the rules some countries have for dealers in jewellery and precious stones, may require you to run a compliance programme, check who your buyer is and keep records. Those duties are yours to meet however you are paid: being paid to your own wallet does not change them, and Zoyn does not find out who your buyers are or do these checks for you.

Common questions

What a watch dealer asks first.

Can I take a deposit to reserve a watch?

Yes. Send one link for the deposit and a second for the balance. Every link is a single payment for a fixed amount.

Does Zoyn check that a watch is genuine?

No. Zoyn doesn't check a watch, its papers or its serial number. That stays your work as the dealer.

The buyer cancelled after paying a deposit. What then?

A deposit taken this way is a full payment, not a card hold, so returning any of it is a payment you send back yourself, under your own terms. Zoyn has no refund button.

What does it cost me?

A percentage of each payment, agreed with you in writing before you go live: crypto payments start at 0.75%, and card payments, if your business can take them, have a separate, higher price. No monthly platform fee and no setup fee. Network fees, and any extra charge for how your customer pays, are separate. Your customer pays them on top of your price and sees their total before they pay.

Will you take my dealership?

We publish every business type we take and every one we refuse, and every application is reviewed before it goes live. We don't promise a timeline we can't keep.

Legal & regulatory disclosures

Zoyn is software. It is not a bank, a payment processor, a payment gateway, a money transmitter or a money services business. Zoyn is never the seller in a sale (the "merchant of record"). Zoyn never holds a shop's money, and does not decide how long a payment company may hold it. When a customer pays by card or bank, the payment company handles that payment under its own terms and may hold it for a short time. The money then goes to the shop's own payment contract once the payment network has confirmed it.

Businesses can be based in 64 jurisdictions. A US state stays open when at least one checkout partner still serves buyers there. Customers can pay from 130+ countries through the checkout providers we connect to; which countries customers can pay from is set by those providers, not by Zoyn, and may change without notice. Not available in sanctioned jurisdictions: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
