Payments for builders with owners abroad

Stage payments from an owner who lives in another country.

Holiday homes, inherited houses and places bought to retire to are often renovated for owners who live abroad. Each stage is its own fixed-amount link they pay from wherever they are, and stablecoins settle to a wallet you control.

Why this is harder than it looks

An owner who can't visit, a currency that moves, and a transfer for every stage.

The owner can't see the work

They are paying for a kitchen, a roof or a new bathroom in a house they may not visit until it is finished.

Send the photos and video of the finished stage, then the link for that stage. The owner pays for work they have just seen.

The exchange rate moves between stages

A job that runs for months is priced in your currency, while the owner earns and saves in theirs.

Each link is set in one currency and settles in that currency. The owner sees their total for the stage before paying, and network fees are separate: the owner pays them on top of the price.

An international transfer for every stage

Each stage payment sent from abroad can mean bank charges and a wait before you can order the next materials.

The owner pays from their own wallet, wherever they live, or by card where available — buyer eligibility depends on country, payment method, provider, and compliance checks.

Stage payments settle to a wallet only you control.

Two limits worth knowing. If your own account with us is under review, automatic payouts pause until that is resolved. And a buyer paying by card can be declined, or asked to prove who they are, before the money is sent — a payment that doesn't happen, never money taken back from you afterwards.

How it works

One stage, one link.

1

Agree the stages and the price of each

In your contract with the owner, as you do today.

2

Finish the stage and send the photos

Then the link for that stage, with the job and stage number as the description.

3

The payment reaches your wallet

After the required network confirmations, in the currency the link was set in.

Common questions

What a builder with an owner abroad asks first.

Can I take a deposit before I order materials?

Yes. Send a first link for the deposit, then one link for each stage. Every link is a single payment for a fixed amount, and nothing is charged automatically.

Can Zoyn keep the money until the owner signs off the stage?

No. Zoyn doesn't hold money for anyone. Each stage is paid when the owner pays its link, and it settles to your wallet.

Can Zoyn pay my subcontractors or my suppliers?

No. Zoyn doesn't make payments on your behalf. It is the software you use to get paid by your clients, and nothing else.

The owner disputes a stage. What then?

Your contract decides what is owed. A wallet payment is not reversed by Zoyn after the required network confirmations; a card-funded payment can still be disputed under the provider's own rules. Zoyn has no refund button.

What does it cost me?

A percentage of each payment, agreed with you in writing before you go live: crypto payments start at 0.75%, and card payments, if your business can take them, have a separate, higher price. No monthly platform fee and no setup fee. Network fees, and any extra charge for how your customer pays, are separate. Your customer pays them on top of your price and sees their total before they pay.

Will you take my building firm?

We publish every business type we take and every one we refuse, and every application is reviewed before it goes live. We don't promise a timeline we can't keep.

Legal & regulatory disclosures

Zoyn is software. It is not a bank, a payment processor, a payment gateway, a money transmitter or a money services business. Zoyn is never the seller in a sale (the "merchant of record"). Zoyn never holds a shop's money, and does not decide how long a payment company may hold it. When a customer pays by card or bank, the payment company handles that payment under its own terms and may hold it for a short time. The money then goes to the shop's own payment contract once the payment network has confirmed it.

Businesses can be based in 64 jurisdictions. A US state stays open when at least one checkout partner still serves buyers there. Customers can pay from 130+ countries through the checkout providers we connect to; which countries customers can pay from is set by those providers, not by Zoyn, and may change without notice. Not available in sanctioned jurisdictions: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
