Payments for therapists and counsellors

Take session fees for therapy, discreetly.

Counsellors, psychotherapists and online therapists send a link before each video session. The link carries a booking number and nothing else, and stablecoins settle to a wallet you control.

Before you read on: we publish every business type we take and every one we refuse — 28 we take, 11 we refuse.

Check yours in ten seconds

A person will look at your type of business as part of the review.

Why this is harder than it looks

Privacy, late cancellations, and clients who have moved away.

Clients care who can see what they paid for

Many clients would rather nobody knew they see a therapist, including anyone who shares their accounts.

Put a booking number in the link description. Never the word therapy, and never the client's name.

A late cancellation leaves an empty hour

A session cancelled the same morning is an hour you cannot give to anyone else.

Your cancellation terms decide whether a fee is owed. If it is, send it as its own link. Zoyn keeps no card on file to charge later, and nothing is charged automatically.

Some clients have moved away

A client who has moved often wants to keep seeing someone they already know, in their own language. Whether you may see a client where they now live depends on your licence and the rules where they are. Check that before you book. Zoyn does not decide it.

If you can see them, they pay from their own wallet, or by card where available. Whether a client can pay depends on their country, how they pay, and the checks our payment partners run.

Session fees settle to a wallet only you control.

Two limits worth knowing. If your own account with us is under review, automatic payouts pause until that is resolved. And a buyer paying by card can be declined, or asked to prove who they are, before the money is sent — a payment that doesn't happen, never money taken back from you afterwards.

How it works

One session, one link.

1

Book the session as you do today

In your own diary or booking system.

2

Send the link before the session

A fixed amount, with only the booking number as the description.

3

The payment reaches your wallet

After the required network confirmations, in the currency the link was set in.

Common questions

What a therapist asks first.

Can a client pay for a block of sessions ahead?

Yes. Price the block and send one link for it. Every link is a single payment for a fixed amount.

Can clients be charged automatically each week?

No. Nothing is charged automatically, and Zoyn keeps no card on file. Each session, or each block, is its own link that you send.

What should I put in the link description?

A booking number. Never the word therapy, the reason for the session or the client's name.

A client disputes a session fee. What then?

Your terms decide what is owed. A wallet payment is not reversed by Zoyn after the required network confirmations; a card-funded payment can still be disputed under the provider's own rules. Zoyn has no refund button.

What does it cost me?

A percentage of each payment, agreed with you in writing before you go live: crypto payments start at 0.75%, and card payments, if your business can take them, have a separate, higher price. No monthly platform fee and no setup fee. Network fees, and any extra charge for how your customer pays, are separate. Your customer pays them on top of your price and sees their total before they pay.

Will you take my practice?

We publish every business type we take and every one we refuse, and every application is reviewed before it goes live. We don't promise a timeline we can't keep.

Teaching or tutoring online instead? Read the page for online tutors. Not sure we'd take your practice? See exactly how we decide.

Send your next session fee as one discreet link.

Apply today, and settle each payment to a wallet only you control after the required network confirmations. Every application is reviewed.

Legal & regulatory disclosures

Zoyn is software. It is not a bank, a payment processor, a payment gateway, a money transmitter or a money services business. Zoyn is never the seller in a sale (the "merchant of record"). Zoyn never holds a shop's money, and does not decide how long a payment company may hold it. When a customer pays by card or bank, the payment company handles that payment under its own terms and may hold it for a short time. The money then goes to the shop's own payment contract once the payment network has confirmed it.

Businesses can be based in 64 jurisdictions. A US state stays open when at least one checkout partner still serves buyers there. Customers can pay from 130+ countries through the checkout providers we connect to; which countries customers can pay from is set by those providers, not by Zoyn, and may change without notice. Not available in sanctioned jurisdictions: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
